Education & Experience

Experience
Freelance Editor and Indexer (2008–present)
I work with academic presses and with individual scholars who are preparing their manuscripts for publication. I have edited and indexed multi-authored volumes and monographs in a wide range of fields: archaeology, international relations, literary and linguistic studies, political biography, religion, and women's studies. I have a particular interest in topics related to Asia.

Editor, Rubicon Publishing (2005–2007)
I edited the Timeline series of graphic novels for young readers, shaping authors' drafts into a form suitable for illustration. The series was co-published by Scholastic in Canada and by Harcourt Achieve in the US—one of my tasks was to Americanize or Canadianize the texts as required.

Assistant Professor of English, University of Maryland Baltimore County (1998–2002)
I taught history of the English language and medieval literature to upper-level students. I also instructed students in the basic techniques of literary criticism. My research interest was the Old English semantic field of the mind.

Proofreader, Dictionary of Old English Project, University of Toronto (1995–1998)
I proofread dictionary entries, including citations in Old English and Latin.
